French Life

Got questions about our big move?

“But like, how did you move to France?”

Imma tell ya! My engineer husband has worked for a French based company in America for the past 12 years. He has had the opportunity to travel the world a lot with this company and spent a lot of time working with the French branch of the company. He got an offer for an assignment in central France and we jumped at it!

What about the language?

My hubby has taken 3 years of French with his company while working with the French team so he has a good level of French. I can get around with my high school and college French and I’m taking lessons now as well. Our twins were lucky enough to be in a French immersion program in America (half their days were in French the past 2 years), so they jumped right into their French immersion school here. Our youngest has picked up some and likes to boss us around in French.

Did you know anyone before you moved?

Thankfully the company Luke works for has a large expat presence where we are, so we were able to jump right into a community. Huge blessing!

What about your things? Your furniture and clothes and all the house things?

Since we moved with a company, they shipped over a container for us full of our things. It took 6 months to arrive with all the shipping delays going on right now!

How did you find a house and school for kids?

We were able to snag a home that another expat family was moving out of, we are very thankful! The company Luke works for has ties with an amazing international school in our city so they arranged all the school things.

How is the thrifting?

BETTER THAN YOU CAN IMAGINE. I always take you along on instagram when I go thrifting, so come say hey!
